Boston’s North End is full of delicious restaurants but many require a reservation so you can’t enjoy the world-renowned taste without planning months in advance. Luckily, there are some places that serve good food and don’t require you to call ahead. Here are some of our favorite North End restaurants that don’t require a reservation.

The Daily Catch

The original location of The Daily Catch opened in the North End in 1973 and remains a can’t miss spot for any seafood lover. Both the calamari and squid ink pasta regularly get rave reviews and customers can’t wait to come back. The tiny storefront is located in the heart of the North End on Hanover St.

The Daily Catch also has a takeout window located a few doors down from their historic location for a quick pickup and delivery option. Some favorites include fried calamari, fresh clam chowder, and lobster rolls.

Galleria Umberto

Galleria Umberto is a cash-only pizzeria in Boston’s North End that was founded in 1974 and specializes in Sicilian-style pizza. It is well known for its affordable prices and square slices. The restaurant is located in an old church and continues to have an old-school, vintage feel.

It’s important to note that this restaurant opens for lunch and will close for the day once they sell out.

Modern Pastry

Located in the North End for over 90 years, Modern Pastry has been one of Boston’s best bakeries. They specialize in Italian and American pastries which include cakes, pies, cannoli, biscotti, and more. The North End location on Hanover St is a popular late-night spot for dessert and coffee after individuals have enjoyed other neighborhood attractions.
