Boston’s North End neighborhood, also known as “Little Italy”, offers a unique combination of American history and world renowned Italian cuisine in the center of the city. There are so many restaurants offering amazing food that it can be hard to know where to go. Here are some of our favorites for a one-of-a-kind dining experience in the North End.
Carmelina’s
Carmelina’s is an award-winning Sicilian-inspired restaurant located on Hanover Street. The unique interior makes this restaurant stand out but the flavors of the creative pasta dishes will bring you right back to the North End. Popular dishes include Lobster Ravioli, Bolognese, and Pesce Pistachio.
The Daily Catch
This family-run restaurant is one of the only places in the area you can eat at without a reservation and both locals and tourists love its unique charm. The garlicky squid-ink pasta might be better than you were imagining but you really can’t go wrong with almost their entire menu.
La Famiglia Giorgio’s
This Salem Street kitchen serves out awesome dishes in gigantic portions that remind diners of delicious family meals. The Giorgio family has been cooking Italian classics for almost three decades in the North End. Some favorites include the tender eggplant parm with a bright marinara and chicken parmigiana.
Galleria Umberto
Galleria Umberto doesn’t seem very special but anyone who has ever tried the delicious Sicilian square slices knows how unique it is. The cash-only restaurant only offers a few items and closes once everything sells out for the day (usually by mid-afternoon).
